How to prepare your pet for their first vet visit

May 15, 20255 minutes

The first vet visit can be stressful both for you and your pet. With proper preparation, you can make the experience much more pleasant.

Before the visit

Start by gathering all necessary documents: health booklet, previous test results (if any) and any information about your pet's diet and habits.

For dogs, make sure you have a suitable leash or carrier. For cats, use a safe carrier — place a familiar blanket inside to help them feel safer.

During transport

Speak calmly to your pet during the journey. Avoid sudden movements and loud sounds. If your pet is prone to nausea, talk to the vet about appropriate medication before the trip.

At the clinic

Stay calm — animals sense our anxiety! Let your pet explore the space at their own pace. Don't force contact with other animals in the waiting room.

Useful tip

Bring along some of your pet's favorite treats. Positive reinforcement helps them associate the vet clinic with pleasant experiences.

After the visit

Give your pet time to calm down. Offer water and food and let them rest. If you notice any unusual behavior after vaccination or other treatment, contact us immediately.
