Grief support

You are with us.
We are with you.

Losing a pet is one of the hardest emotions. Your animal wasn't 'just a pet' — they were a member of your family. We're here to support you.

Grief for a pet is real.

You don't need to justify your sadness to anyone. Pets give us years of unconditional love — and their absence leaves a real void. Give yourself the time and space you need.

— Stages of grief

You are not alone.

The stages don't come in order. They may return. It's part of a normal process.

01

Denial

'This can't be happening to me.' It's normal to question the situation — give yourself time.

02

Anger

You may feel angry at yourself, the vet, or the circumstances. Acknowledge it without guilt.

03

Bargaining

'If only I'd done something different...' — 'what if' thoughts are part of healing.

04

Sadness

The deep feeling of loss. Allow yourself to grieve — it's not weakness.

05

Acceptance

With time, memory transforms into gratitude for the journey you shared.

Talking to children

For many children, this is their first experience of loss. How you support them shapes how they'll handle grief in the future.

  • Tell the truth — avoid phrases like 'went away' that may confuse
  • Let children express their feelings at their own pace
  • Create a small ritual — a drawing, letter, or framed photo
  • Don't be afraid to show that you're sad too — you teach healthy grief

Other pets

Animals feel the absence. They may look for their companion, change appetite or sleep patterns. They grieve too.

  • Other pets may change behavior — less appetite, searching
  • Keep their routine as stable as possible
  • Offer extra cuddles and attention — but don't rush to get a new pet
  • If they show prolonged symptoms — contact us
— Difficult decisions

When is it time to let a pet go?

Euthanasia is perhaps the most painful decision you'll be called to make. It's not failure — it's the final act of love when we can no longer provide quality of life.

Ask yourself: Are they eating with appetite? Can they stand? Do they recognize you and the family? Are they constantly in pain? If more answers are 'no', it may be time to talk with us — without pressure and without guilt.

We'll help you assess calmly, understand all options and — when the moment comes — ensure your pet leaves without pain, in your arms.
