When needed

  • Female cats/dogs: 6–7 months (before first heat)
  • Males: 6–9 months — reduces marking behavior
  • Adult animals: any age, with pre-op screening
  • Pathological cases: pyometra, neoplasia, cryptorchidism

Before

  • Fast for 8–12 hours (water until 2h before)
  • Inform us of any medication
  • Bring on leash/harness or carrier

During

Performed under general anesthesia with continuous monitoring of heart rate, oxygenation, respiration and temperature. 30–60 minutes depending on size and sex. Patient stays at the clinic until full recovery.

After

  • Quiet and warm for first 24 hours
  • Elizabethan collar for 7–10 days
  • Limited activity 10–14 days
  • Suture removal at 10–14 days
  • Contact us for bleeding, swelling or lethargy

Possible risks & side effects

  • Like any surgery — small anesthesia risk
  • Rare post-op inflammation
  • Older animals: increased pre-screening need
